Taking Care of Human Hair Wigs

Wigs and toppers made of human hair should be cared for intensively, just like sensitive or strained natural hair. Please remember never to comb the wig when it’s wet. The knotting could become undone when hair is soaked with water. It is better to remove entanglements in the hair by carefully combing before washing.

1.The use of wig brushes ensures the sensitive hair doesn’t take damage. You can also go thru the hair with your spread fingers from top to tips to remove tangles carefully.
2.Use of wig shampoo
Few splashes of shampoo are added to approx. 1 gal of tepid water. Put your human hair wig into this mixture. Let it soak for about 10 minutes. Then rinse it under also tepid, but flowing water till solution is washed out. It is advisable to treat the human hair wig with balm, deep conditioner or serum for the tips after washing.
3.Styling
Now some styling tips. You can now blow-dry your human hair wig, put the hair on rollers or allow it to dry naturally and do the styling later. You can, if you want, use a curling iron or other tools to bring the hair in shape after it’s fully dried. The golden rule for washing is to do it as often as you need to, but as seldom as possible. Same applies for styling: “Less is more”. Simply think of the effects that styling and wrong care would have on own hair. Washing hair hot, using blow dryers or straightening irons would also damage your own hair.

Important Tips
1.Be gentle when combing a wig. Do not use regular brushes, and if you can, only comb it. It doesn’t need combed every day, so let it rest.
2.While you’re sitting at home, take it off and put it on a wig stand. The stand will help keep its shape and taking it off your head takes away from your own tugging and pulling hairs out.
3.After washing a wig, do not shake it in a towel. Be careful and dry it piece-by-piece. This makes sure that strands of fibers don’t fall off. Also, never style your wig while it’s wet. Even those wet-to-style hair stylists are known to damage your wig
4.After saturating your wig in water, squeeze it dry. Don’t wring it or the base of your wig could become mis-shaped and dry funny.
5.While washing your hair, never use shampoo meant for natural hair. ”Even though normal conditioner is OK, the shampoo is too harsh and can lead to hair falling out.
6.You can condition your hair every couple week or so, to keep it shiny and soft. Make sure you don’t do that every day and be sure to rinse it all out or it could lead to build-up in your wig.
